Weightlifting Canada Haltérophilie Masters (WCHM) is the national organization that represents Canadian Masters Weightlifters. WCHM is not affiliated with WCH, however it is officially recognized by the International Masters Weightlifting Association (IMWA).
Participating in provincial and inter-provincial sanctioned weightlifting competitions, as well as WCH/WCHM sanctioned events may qualify WCHM members for the following:
- WCHM Awards (Canadian National Records, Canadian Masters Hall of Fame points and the President’s Attollo Award)
- approval to compete in the Canadian Masters Weightlifting Championships approval to compete at IMWA sanctioned events such as the IMWA World Championships and the Pan American Masters Championships
- WCHM members may also qualify for UMWF (United Masters Weightlifting Federation) and some USA Masters Weightlifting Inc. competitions.
National and International Masters Championships are not available to WCH and PSO members unless they are WCHM members. This means that Alberta masters athletes interested in competing at Canadian Masters Nationals or international masters competitions require a membership with both AWA and WCHM.
To support our masters athletes, AWA endeavours to coordinate and collaborate with WCHM, where possible including seeking pre-approval of AWA sanctioned competitions that can be used as qualifiers for WCHM and IMWA competitions We have outlined these in our season calendar.
For ease, we have also included anti-doping information below for WCHM Masters Athletes.
